The Collins Aerospace Applied Research & Technology organization seeks a Senior Engineering Manager with demonstrated technical expertise in data-driven technologies to lead the AI Algorithms group of engineers/scientists within our Data Intelligence Discipline. As a technology leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for project execution, technology creation through transition, and professional development of technical staff.

As a member of the AI & Data Analytics Discipline leadership, you will also contribute to strategic planning, business development, and engagement with our internal and external stakeholders. Our partners include the global Collins Engineering & Technology organization, leading universities, innovative small businesses, Collins Digital Technology, the Raytheon Technologies Research Center, BBN, and our RTX business units. Our customers include the Collins strategic business units as well as external research organizations such as DARPA, FAA/EASA, NASA, and EU public/private partnerships.

Job Responsibilities:

TheAIAIgorithmsgroupleaderwill be responsible for creating innovative technology building blocks (e.g., AI/ML and data sciencemethodologies, aerospace relevant algorithms, analytics, HMI, etc.) for data intelligence applications applicable to a broad range of products, systems, and services in support of Collins Autonomous Operations and Connected Ecosystems strategic initiatives. This includesreusableelements thatcut acrossa range oftechnologydisciplinesandbuilt upon open and proprietarystate-of-the-art AI/ML capabilities.The team willhave their work be informed by the needs of thepeerIntelligent Systems team and the AI Operationsteamto ensure line of sight to value.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required

  • Experience withAI/ML technologies,data science,analytics,toolsuites, andfoundationalbuilding blocks(e.g.,AIprogramming languages, deep learning toolsets,MLOps, NLP, knowledge encoding/mining,neural network architectures,optimization, Bayesian learning, synthetic datageneration)

  • Capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in applicable engineering or sciencefield

  • Proven track record of innovation and project execution leadership

  • Strong written & oral communication skills for effective collaboration across a global team

  • Available for hybrid workat ornear one of ourengineeringlocations at a full-time schedule

  • Experience leading technologists in an R&D environment

  • Experience developingtechnologies forsafety- or security-criticalembeddedsystems

  • Experience capturing and executing external science and technology contracts

  • Experience with aerospace product and systems
