We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our growing Tax team. The Senior Tax Accountant - International will gain exposure to a broad spectrum of international tax topics, playing a key role in global compliance, reporting, and research.
Our Tax team owns Smartsheets global tax strategy, including the quarterly and annual income tax provision (ASC 740), federal and state compliance, and indirect tax reporting. In addition to managing complex filing cycles and global account reconciliations, the team navigates a variety of challenging tax technical topics.
You will report to our International Tax Manager, who is based in the United States. Ideal candidates reside within the Pacific or Mountain time zones.
You Will
- Prepare workpapers for foreign income tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, and foreign-related US filings and calculations
- Prepare value added returns (VAT), estimates, and accruals as we expand our global reach and filing obligations
- Conduct tax research on international issues in multiple areas, including foreign R&D, Pillar 2, BEAT, foreign tax credits, and transfer pricing
- Prepare account reconciliations and/or journal entries for all international tax related general ledger accounts
- Manage tax depreciation for foreign entities, including processing multi-currency asset entries, performing detailed rollforwards, and calculating adjustments for tax provision and returns
- Maintain documentation regarding internal tax processes
- Assist with ad hoc tax projects and planning initiatives as required
You Have
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- 5+ years tax or accounting experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent experience in a large corporate tax department
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online tax research software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document complex processes clearly
- Detail-oriented, analytical and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Driven problem-solver with the ability to adapt to evolving reporting requirements
